Map Report

The interactive map report provides users with a dynamic visual representation of the global distribution of family members within a family tree.

By utilizing different coloured pins, each representing a specific gender, users can gain valuable insights into their ancestors’ geographical spread across various regions. Blue pins denote males, red pins signify females, while orange pins highlight locations where multiple family members reside together. Gray pins are utilized for individuals whose gender remains unknown, prompting further investigation within the family tree.

Beyond its visual appeal, the interactive map report offers a host of user-friendly features. Clickable pins enable users to access detailed information about each family member with ease. Upon clicking a pin, a pop-up window appears, displaying essential details such as the individual’s name, birth year, and, if available, death year. These pop-ups are thoughtfully designed to mirror the pin’s colour, providing users with a clear indication of the family member’s gender.

Different themes

Adding to its versatility, the interactive map report offers users the option to view the map in two distinct themes: Street view and Vintage view. Whether users prefer the modern aesthetics of street maps or the timeless charm of vintage cartography, they can tailor their exploration to suit their preferences.

A standout feature of the interactive map report is the inclusion of a timeline bar located at the bottom of the map. This timeline bar allows users to navigate through different time periods by moving a pointer back and forth. As the pointer moves, the colours of the pins dynamically adjust to reflect the time periods during which each family member was alive. Pins retain their respective colours during the individual’s lifespan and transition to Gray once the pointer moves beyond this period.

Print report

Users are able to print the map report using the ‘publish’ option displayed in the toolbar, which generates a PDF containing the details visible on the screen.
